Hillary’s Crafternoon

Hillary’s Crafternoon

Last week, we Noble twins were invited to take part in Hillary’s Crafternoon – a day of crafts and cake with our fellow bloggers.

They had us at the word cake!

To celebrate the launch of their new made to measure fabric range, Hillary’s Blinds teamed up with craft workshop goddesses The Crafty Hen, to go on a UK wide roadshow (you can read about it here!) and the Glasgow leg of the tour took place in The Butterfly & Pig. Have you SEEN this place? It’s absolutely stunning. We’d only ever been in the pub area before, as a precursor to cutting through to the Buff Club nightclub at the other side!

Can you imagine a better location for crafts and cake? It made us feel all dainty and regal.

Within minutes of arriving we were given a cake list and asked to make a choice. Hardest choice ever, may we add.

Which one would you choose? Irene opted for the chocolate hazelnut (an inspired choice), and I went for the red velvet cake.

Our first task was to make notebook covers, and we selected our favourite fabrics. Here’s what we went for:

The ladies from The Crafty Hen were on hand to guide us, and we got to work. It reminded us of covering our jotters at school. Remember? With the wallpaper scraps, usually turned to the white side so we could ‘menshie’ them?

Needless to say, Irene looked right at home with the glue gun.

What I like best about the covers, is that once you finish writing in your notebook, just slip the cover off and put it over a new notebook. As someone who gets through plenty of notebooks, this is music to my ears!

Do you like our finished covers?

Time for a cake break! Look at these beauties…

Our next craft was to make a 3D bird. This involved cutting around a pattern, sewing two contrasting pieces together, then stuffing it to make a plump, adorable wee bird. In reality, Irene and I ended up with two plump wee lumps.

Since we both still act like 5 year olds, we gave our birds to Mum, who was obviously delighted with them. Here they are, taking pride of place on the windowsill :’)

It was lovely spending time with fellow bloggers Lauren Maria from Living in a boxx, Amy from Boldly Gold, and fashion & beauty blogger Jamie Johnstone. We thoroughly enjoyed our #HillarysCrafternoon and as you can see, everyone felt the same! x
